Devon and Cornwall Rotary Community Raffle Winner!

We were delighted to hear that one of our customers was the winner of the "Devon and Cornwall Rotary Community Raffle" this year.  Mrs Susan Lynch, from Peters Marland, has won the 1st prize of £1,000, she recalls buying her ticket whilst walking her dog Winston along the Tarka Trail near Torrington Station with her husband.

Otter Valley Rotary and SW Peninsula Rotary E Club, the organisers of the raffle, selected the winning tickets at random on 22nd November, following which we launched a social media campaign to try to trace the winner as we only had a surname and a phone number on the ticket stub which unfortunately wasn't recognised. Luckily, this worked, and Susan Lynch got in touch and had the correct information to confirm her to be the owner of the winning ticket!

Cllr Andrew Saywell from Devon County Council visited the railway today to present Mrs Lynch with her cheque for £1,000, also in attendance were Mike Huxtable from the Otter Valley Rotary and SW Peninsula Rotary E Club and our Treasurer Jan Welch who was one of our regular raffle ticket sellers so may well have sold the winning ticket.

This annual community raffle helps various organisations throughout Devon and Cornwall to boost their own fundraising by selling the tickets between April and October each year, with the Rotary Club only taking 10% of the takings to cover the raffle organisation costs.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us by buying tickets throughout the year and the volunteers who gave their time and effort to sell them. Keep a look out for another chance to win next year when more tickets will be available to buy once again.
